John Martin

My drawings are done in pen & ink, incorporated sometimes with other mediums, such as watercolor, pastels, acrylic paint, alcohol markers, among many other tools that I'm still discovering. Most of my drawings start with a component of an idea, and then I think of a way to make it more fun for myself, which usually adds an additional thematic layer. I've been influenced (read: corrupted) by too much TV as a kid, science fiction, fantasy, rock & roll, and a strong belief that laughter is one of the most important elements of the human experience. Art can (and should) bring up so many emotions in people, and I've found that it's humor that I enjoy sharing the most. Confusion's pretty good, too.
